Dry Rot
Dry rot is wood decay caused by certain species of fungi that digest parts of the wood which give the wood strength and stiffness. It was previously used to describe any decay of cured wood in ships and buildings by a fungus which resulted in a darkly coloured deteriorated and cracked condition.

Structural Work
Structural work is the particular method of assembling and constructing structural elements of a building so that they support and transmit applied loads safely to the ground without exceeding the allowable stresses in the members.
We specialize in structural repairs especially in composite walls and work with either your own or our structural engineer and building control to ensure a fully guaranteed and certified repair.
Tanking and Damp Work
Tanking is a term that refers to damp proofing walls by creating a complete water-impermeable barrier covering the entire wall. It is usually employed as a remedial method in situations where there is no access to the external wall of the structure, such as in basements and cellars. We also specialize in tanking of older solid wall properties both with physical plastic membranes or by the traditional rendering and plastering methods.
General Works
As well as undertaking our specialist works we can also undertake any and all of your general and basic building repairs and requirements from undertaking conversions to laying drainage or drilling soak-aways and building outhouses or offices. We have a team of specialist sub-contractors who work with us and combining all our skills there are not too many projects that we cannot undertake. We will also gladly look at small jobs too and we always aim to keep our costs keen and competitive.
Damp
Damp refers to the presence of moisture, water, and condensation being present within a property. Problems with damp in your property can easily occur but without any warning signs and can cause serious damage to your building’s infrastructure. Underpinning
In construction or renovation, underpinning is the process of strengthening the foundation of an existing building or other structure. We undertake underpinning both by the traditional method of excavation and also in conjunction with a specialist contractor the use of resin injection which is less invasive and can even jack a structure back up.

Our team is older than most with the main 6 individuals including our founder having an impressive almost 200 years of experience between them! We have some 'young blood' too our youngest being our 20-year-old apprentice.
Our work covers both residential and commercial properties and we also undertake building auditing. We enjoy working on older properties and effecting repairs and upgrades whilst still maintaining the building's character.

This is well demonstrated by viewing the slideshow of repairs to a property we have completed on the Isle of Wight. These works consisted of underpinning, repair of structural cracking, replacement of RSJ's, the rebuilding of the central part of the front wall, and removal and support of the composite stone walls in two areas.

Additionally, structural bracing of the roof, tanking of the interior using a physical membrane, landscaping of the grounds, renewal of the drainage, replumbing, rewiring, and full internal refurbishment providing a new kitchen, bathroom, and a feature 'Norman' style fireplace using the salvaged remains of the original chimney.
